Mount Rainer! At 14,410 feet it towers over Western Washington. It's an active volcano, although it's last erruption was in the 1800's. Today because of the more than 21 glaciers atop its peak, Rainier is the most dangerous volcano in the continental USA.

Olympic National Park

One of only two temperate rainforests in the world (the other one is in Russia) the Hoh Rain Forest in northeast Washington is amazing! There are trails to hike, beaches to relax at, and more geology than you can shake a stick at. (Although you'll probably be too busy for stick shaking. Maybe bring a kite instead.)

Grand Coulee Dam (and laser show!)
Bringing "green" power to Washington State for more than 60 years, the Grand Coulee Dam is a modern marvel. Thousands of people come from all over the region to explore this vast structure and the science behind it every year. There are also really cool laser shows at night. I recommend a combination.
